Such action is obviously not permitted. We can call Inline or Function from Workflow, but in other direction we have to use one of solutions described <a href=\"https:\/\/stefanroth.net\/2015\/07\/14\/sma-error-root-element-is-missing\/\">here.<\/a><br \/>\nI have just met another cause of such error.<br \/>\nIn powershell, there is nomally available such syntax:<\/p>\n<div class=\"codecolorer-container powershell default\" style=\"overflow:auto;white-space:nowrap;width:600px;\"><table cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\"><tbody><tr><td class=\"line-numbers\"><div>1<br \/><\/div><\/td><td><div class=\"powershell codecolorer\"><span class=\"re0\">$var<\/span> <span class=\"sy0\">=<\/span> <span class=\"br0\">&#40;<\/span><span class=\"kw1\">get-service<\/span><span class=\"br0\">&#41;<\/span><span class=\"br0\">&#91;<\/span><span class=\"nu0\">0<\/span><span class=\"br0\">&#93;<\/span><\/div><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/div>\n<p>It is using result of expression within brackets as a table, what is indexed without creation of intermediate variable.<br \/>\nBased on my expierience and some tests, I can state that this syntax is causing error &#8220;Root element is missing&#8221;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This error is most often seen because of nested runbook invocation from inline or function context.
